Spent three hours last night loading USB drive with portable applications to run without needing administrative privileges only to be told that even that privilege is blocked out. So typing on my blog is about the only thing I can do in class.

E-mailed Linda Broom to ask if GRM kept Perl on a server for users to use. As of noon today, have not heard from her. I assume this is bad news. She probably had to ask someone. Hope to hear from her, anyway.

Started snowing again about 11 a.m. Snow plows had been working all morning on previous snows.

Only four people in class, today. Good time for me to present my favorite web site. Done.

I got a nice surprise this morning. Since I had not found many good tutorials on Perl, I was beginning to wonder if it is an obsolete program. But as I was looking over the NIST pages to download the program to keep computers' clock accurate, I discovered several scripts in Perl.

First session

I knew Google was big, but I'm seeing that it is much bigger than I knew. I hope that the people who are in charge and making decisions will not distance themselves who actually create and care for the program.

As in every class I have memory of, I was the first person to show up. I hate coming into a room full of people and I avoid that by being the only one there. For a few minutes, anyway.

Because of my hearing, I usually take a seat close to the front row, but not in it. Unfortunately, that means that I usually do not see many other students in the class. I could run into them later and not recognize them.
